ALOR STAR: Datuk Mohd Zayad Ismail has retained his post as the president of Malay Chambers of Commerce (DPMM) Kedah chapter for the 2023-2026 term.
Zayad defended the position after defeating Datuk Badrul Hisham Hashim in the Kedah DPMM committee election held in conjunction with its annual general meeting (AGM) at the Jerai Hotel here today.
In a statement, the chamber said Zayad had won by a 70 majority votes in a straight contest to retain the post for the second term.
“This also means that this will be the last term for Datuk Zayad to hold the post, in line with the two-term limit to hold the office,” it said.
In today’s polls, delegates also voted Kedah DPMM honorary secretary Zulkifli Khamis as the new deputy president after defeating incumbent Badrol Hisham Mohd Rejab while Mohd Khairul Rohami won the vice-president post.
Today’s AGM was opened by deputy State Secretary Datuk Syed Khairol Anuar Syed Abidin.
Present were national DPMM acting president Norsyahrin Hamidon and DPMM executive council members.
